Basic makeup products for beginners in India
When God was writing the story of my life, he made sure that the majority of the women around me showed no interest in makeup. At least, initially.
The only downside I find to this is that they hate me for not telling what’s the secret behind my glowing face. When I tell them it’s not a glowing skin but rather a super oily affair, they just DON’T believe me! Huh!
That said, since I helped them put a personalized makeup kit for themselves, I had a pretty good direction when coming up with this series on basic makeup kit for beginners in India.
Now given the fact that I’m a pro at procrastinating, I can’t believe I’m doing the final part of this guide. *Pats herself on her back*
Presenting part-3 to the ‘Basic makeup products for beginners in India’. *Imagines someone clapping*

I have still omitted some things (Read: Things that can go horribly wrong) like eyelash curler, contouring products, liquid highlighters, false eyelashes and more.
Concealers and correctors
Think of a concealer as a magic wand that can mask your sleepless night- you know the one where you mind decides to wander aimlessly and force you to think as to what’s your purpose in life as well as curse that friend who took a sip of your Oreo shake.
If it’s sleepless night(s), combine the power of a concealer and corrector to witness the magic. Here’s how to conceal dark circles using affordable products. As I always say, start with less quantity. You can always build up the coverage.
I love NYX HD photogenic as well as MAC pro longwear concealer both for face and under-eye area. But if you’re just starting with one, I suggest you to try Maybelline fit me concealer. It is easier to work with but offers lesser coverage and staying power.
As for orange corrector, I like Kryolan supra color range. It’s budget-friendly and works well.
If you find pigmented eyeshadows too artificial for your taste, you can try the ones that offer less opacity. Palettes are a good option as they provide value for your money. Some good ones are Sivanna Colors Classic Earthtone Eyeshadow Palette 02 and Sivanna Colors Smokey Eyes 03 palette. To get a better coverage, use them with a damp brush.
When you find yourself ready for some more oomph, take your pick from palettes like BH cosmetics baked and beautiful eyeshadow palette, Makeup Revolution big love palette. I like eyeshadows from Inglot as well as Sleek makeup brand.
My two cents here would be to blend the edges like crazy and work with your eye shape.
Assuming you’re now good with drawing lines, show some love for colored eyeliners. They definitely count in basic makeup products for beginners for me but once you know how to incorporate them in your looks, they can help you elevate your basic makeup look. They’re one of the best ways to break out of a makeup rut without putting in much efforts.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on buying different ones, do yourself a favour: Just get a good eyeshadow palette with colors you like and Inglot duraline.
Inglot duraline is nothing less than a love potion for muggles people like us who live on colored eyeliners. Try keeping the rest of your look simple with colored eyeliners. The bright ones look the best when they are worn as a statement. You don’t want to look like a 13-year old when wearing them. Co-ordination is important and this is why I reserved them until the last.
I decided to keep primers for the last part of this ‘basic makeup products for beginners in India’ post as it’s important for you to find out whether or not they make a difference to your beauty routine. Now that you have been using a foundation/bb cream for months, you will be able to notice if primers help you.
Just because everyone’s gaga about a particular product doesn’t mean you have to give in to the craze too. Get one for yourself if you’re keen on having one, use it for some time and keep tracking the results. Does it help extend the longevity of your makeup? Does it help refine the texture of your skin? Does that pore-reducing one really dials down the size of your pores? Does that brightening one really lends a glow to your skin?
Most importantly, make sure it suits your skin and isn’t resulting in breakouts.
Some of my favourites are Revlon photoready primer, Laura Mercier oil free primer and Skindinavia primer spray.
Original beauty blender
Okay! *Takes a deep breath*
Some situations in life which I find stressful are talking on the phone, ending a book series which I love, offering food to colleagues and suggesting someone a beauty product which is crazy expensive.
If you can, please try the original beauty blender. This sponge costs around Rs.2300. I know, I know! And before you accuse me of common sense having left my body just because I’m in love, you really need to see here why I think the original beauty blender is worth the hype.
If you want a flawless finish with your foundation minus the use of the costly original beauty blender on your textured skin, try a buffing brush. I love the one by Real Techniques as it pushes foundation into my pores. You can see this post on how to minimize pores on face with makeup. I have explained how it works.
The only reason why you may want to stay away from it is if you have a dry skin type. It can leave skin looking flaky.

From here, feel free to experiment with other products which I haven’t included in this post on basic makeup products for beginners in India. I didn’t want to complicate it too much. Just remember not to follow the fad. Your oily skin may thank you for not using a highlighter!
These tips will help you a lot especially if you are about to get married and would have so many events lined up for you to attend before and after your marriage. But, on your wedding day, definitely go for a professional bridal makeup artist.
