L’oreal has nailed it again!

in Face, Foundation on 24/11/16

L'oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation review

The brand has once again come up with a drugstore foundation that does what it claims. Meet “L’oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation” which has a matte finish minus the cakey mess. It is the best foundation for oily skin in summer in India.

Product description:

Thanks to the natural powerful serum absorbant ‘Volcanic perlite complex’, it magically absorbs skin oil and shine for a lasting shine-free matitty.

Dermatologically tested

Suitable for all skin types

Non-comedogenic

My experience with L’oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation:

Recently, I wrote an article about the best drugstore foundations for oily-combination skin in India. Two of them were from this brand only. The only reason why I didn’t include this in the list was because I didn’t had the chance to try it out in extreme humid weather.

Moving on, I purchased L’oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation more than 2 months back. One look at the tube’s picture and you can see how much I’ve enjoyed using it. Fortunately, it never caused any breakouts on my face.

Packaging: I lub the glossy pink packaging! Details like ingredients list, quantity, price, expiry date, shade number and product description are mentioned on the outer case. Even the tube contains the necessary information. The nozzle works perfectly okay in distributing the foundation.

^ How cool is this!

Texture: It has a light yet creamy texture. Since it dries fast, you need to be quick with blending. Any attempt in blending visible lines after the formula has set will be difficult.

Coverage: Even with the natural-medium coverage it offers, it evens out complexion and covers my acne scars really well.

Finish: It gives a powdery, matte finish. To avoid your face from looking flat, dust a light layer of blush on your cheeks.

Staying power: Since I have a super oily yet flaky skin on cheeks and sweat a lot, the main things I look for in my foundation are that it shouldn’t transfer and make my face look dull even after some 5-6 hours. I said the same things when I reviewed Chambor ultra matte oil free foundation. L’oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation doesn’t disappoint me. I have worn it numerous times to my workplace and it stayed well for 10+ hours with some fading. Although I can see my face getting a little oily after some 3 hours, I can’t feel it. By mid-day, I need to use one blotting sheet and I’m sorted.

Even the few times I worn it when I went out for street shopping (mind you, no air conditioners), it didn’t make my face a mess.

Shade selection: Disappointing. My shade ‘N3’ works well for my NC25 skin tone. However, with only 5 shades available, dusky beauties will definitely face a hurdle.

Word of caution: It’s easy to tread on the “artificial matte finish” line with this on your face. To avoid this, please begin with a properly moisturized skin.

How I apply it: On my oily-combination skin type, it works best with a sponge. I have used it with MAC tear drop sponge, beauty blender and Real techniques sponge. Sometimes, buffing brushes create a flaky action on my skin in this weather and therefore, I avoid them.

Two reasons why you might want to skip it:

– You have a parched skin or you’ve to constantly deal with dry patches. The reason being it clings to the dry areas. Definitely avoid it if you’re in search for the best foundation for dry skin in India.

– You have a lot of imperfections to cover and you rely on your foundation to do that job. Working in layers with is not a good idea.

Summary:

If you’ve got serious oil issues, L’oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation is seriously worth a try! It’s the best foundation for oily skin in India and that too at an affordable price tag! It doesn’t feel heavy and impart a chalky matte finish. I’m curious to find out how it’ll compare with Lakme absolute white intense skin cover foundation in summer which is another amazing foundation for oily skin.

Price: Rs 595

Quantity: 30 ml

VCB rating: 4.5/5

Have you tried L’oreal mat magique 12H bright mat foundation? What’s your favourite foundation?
