One of the worst nightmares for people with oily skin is spending an eternity doing their makeup and then, seeing it slide off under the heat and humidity. No wonder, many of them resort to a fixing spray which is supposed to be an amazing makeup product for oily skin to control oil secretion and prevent makeup from budging. I’m reviewing one today. Kryolan Dermacolor fixing spray is a much raved product to lend extra staying power to makeup. But does it work?
Dermacolor Fixing Spray is used for extra protection of the camouflage. Especially suitable for hands and neck. Dermacolor Fixing Spray is applied after setting the camouflage with Dermacolor Fixing Powder. Dermacolor Fixing Spray is sprayed directly onto the skin from a distance of 20-30 cm. After drying the camouflage is smudge-proof. Easy washable with water and soap.

Is Kryolan dermacolor fixing spray a real good makeup product for oily skin?
The Kryolan dermacolor fixing spray can be used to extend the longevity of the derma camouflage cream and even on its own. That’s what I was told at the store. If you want to have a look at the store online and see more Kryolan cosmetics products, you can have a look at THIS post.
Moving on, the fixing spray comes in an aerosol spray bottle with the necessary details like quantity, ingredients, product description and expiry date mentioned on it.
You’re supposed to spray it from a distance after you’re done with your entire makeup. I did the same. Did I see results? I most definitely did. I bought this one some 2-3 years back when I had a super oily skin type. I had trouble getting my makeup to stay in place and this felt like one of the best products for oily skin. Not only did it help reduce the powdery residue on my face but I actually saw a considerable difference in how my makeup wore throughout the day.
It doesn’t leave a matte finish but rather a luminous matte finish. Also, you have to be very careful when you spray it on your face and not end up going over-board with it. If it sticks to your hair, they feel very crunchy and only a shampoo rinse can solve that problem. Just like when you use a hairspray. I also have to be careful of my breathing pattern when I use it because If I inhale it, it feels so chemically.
The sad part is that in spite of good results, I’m unable to use it. Why?
When it comes to makeup sprays, how the nozzle works is of a lot of importance. The annoying thing here is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. When it doesn’t work well, it sprays unevenly. The pattern is patchy. I can’t even use my fingers to spread those large droplets of the mixture because the makeup goes flaky. You cannot touch up your makeup once this is on. If you try to, it moves the existing base.
Once, I had to walk out of home with patchy foundation on cheeks because of this product. There was no time to wash my entire makeup completely as my mom was extremely close to pulling me by my hair and dragging me out of the house.
Since the working of the nozzle is unpredictable, I maintain distance from it. What was supposed to be an incredible makeup product for oily skin ruined the experience for me. But when it comes to setting my eye makeup using it, I love it. It extends the staying power of my eyeshadows which is a pretty big deal for someone with super oily eyelids.
Kryolan dermacolor fixing spray is worth the hype but I would never count on it to set my makeup in place. Because as I said before, it might actually remove it.
