5 Years of VanityCaseBox

in Others, Random on 05/10/17

Today is the fifth anniversary of my first ever blog post- a strawberry lip balm from ThebodyShop!

This is one of those posts where I don’t know how to start with expressing my love for my blog. There were times when I had nothing to look forward to in my life but my blog. Words can’t explain how thankful I am for its presence in my life.

It is my escape- a place where I can talk about beauty related stuff with people who share the same obsession as mine. I love my family and close friends but it’s just not interesting talking about beauty products with them. 90% of my makeup looks all same to them. This is where my little beauty-obsessed part of me gets to connect with similar people.

I’m not this chatty and open in person which helps me even more. When I write, I have time to edit my sentences. When I speak, my words stumble.

Jo Bhi Main, Kehna Chahoon Barbaad Karein, Alfaaz Mere, Alfaaz Mere

Then, most of the times, I am not even social. I’m not an anti-social but I do find the presence of people (even the ones I love) at a stretch to be draining. This is where social media (particularly my blog) prevents me from exhausting myself.

Also, it’s heart-breaking to see the circus the blogging world has become today. Marketing has taken a whole new form today. Be it beauty blogs, YouTube or social media channels, all have become a goldmine for the companies as well as the people behind it. The fine line between selling out and being a sell out was crossed long ago.

Anyhoo

I’d really like to thank each one of you who reads this blog. You have no idea how every single comment makes me feel. Genuine ones of course, not the ones like “Good post, read my blog here!” Haha!

*Abrupt ending but my heart refuses to write more*

Congratulations, yours is a blog that I genuinely read when I need makeup related advice. the pictures are also of top quality. When you spoke about all those things you mentioned about people, exhaustion, conversing……it felt like I had written this post…cos I feel the exact same way!!!! And nobody gets me. Are you sure, we weren’t seperated at birth? hehe Enjoy your blog-iversary. Pop some champagne!

      Haha! I hope not πŸ˜›
Qualities of an introvert aren’t welcomed much where we live. Have you read books by Dushka Zapata? She’s also on Quora. You should definitely read her answers there as they will broaden your perspective a lot. She has influenced my life in such a positive way.
And thank you so much! ^_^

    Heena, congrats!
The efforts you put together in your posts and pictures is highly appreciated. I keep coming back to your blog because your personality shines through all the things you talk about, especially non-beauty related and none of it looks fake or forced. I like that I can relate to you.
You are right. It’s crazy there’s no difference left between most blogs and magazines today. I read only a few like peachesandblush, indianvanitycase and yours of course. I trust your recommendations 100%. So never stop blogging please. You deserve far more recognition than you have right now.

That is so kind of you, Shaili.

I love both those blogs too. Just my kind where I get a glimpse of the person through behind-the-scenes. Hehe!

Haha, I don’t plan to. Not anytime soon πŸ˜›
