Wallet-Friendly Vampy Lipstick in India

in Lips, Lipstick on 03/01/17

Indulging in makeup shopping and sticking to a budget doesn’t exactly go hand in hand. Not until you become a savvy shopper i.e. figure on where to save and where to splurge. When it comes to lip colors, a lot of money can be saved as even the affordable ones today carry an amazing texture and lasting power. This becomes more true for shades you know you’ll not be wearing a lot. Being a lipstick lover, I own a lot of them and mostly from affordable brands. I do have a few ones from high-end brands but that kind of splurge happens only once in a while for me. Speaking for a wallet-friendly vampy lipstick in India, I got hold of a stunning one!

Say hello to Coloressence mesmerizing lip color ‘Moods in Maroon’!

Coloressence mesmerizing lip color 'Moods in Maroon' review, swatches

Product description:

This moisture rich lip color nourishes and protects your lips from dryness. The unique coriander and basil extract with SPF-15 gives you a full coverage look with satin, smooth finish, and long wear texture. It is available in 29 shades.

My experience with Coloressence mesmerizing lip color ‘Moods in Maroon’

Packaging: Black plastic casing with the brand name in silver initials on it. Because of the transparent casing in the middle, one can easily identify the shade without opening the lipstick. The shade name is also mentioned at the bottom of this lipstick.

Texture: Since the formula is neither creamy nor dry, it takes a little effort to apply it. I think it’s this very aspect which has never made the lip color travel outside the lines. That said, it starts to feel dry after some 2 hours which further emphasizes the lip lines. On rare days when I wear it, I ensure to prep my lips properly i.e. scrub and apply lip balm.

Also, don’t rub your lips together when you sport it as it creates streaks. It looks best when applied in a single layer.

Finish: It’s satin i.e. a cross of matte and creamy. If you happen to suffer from chapped lips and love matte finish, a satin finish is your best bet as it’s infused with some amount of moisture.

Wallet-Friendly Vampy Lipstick in India

Pigmentation: Crazy! It goes opaque in a single swipe only. One of the many reasons which makes it a wallet-friendly vampy lipstick in India

Staying power: It clings real nice to the lips. Even after some 4-5 hours, I could still see a lot of color on my lips. I had coffee and some snacks during that time. The added bonus is that it leaves a strong tint behind. This is particularly helpful because the lipstick fades in an uneven manner and the stain prevents it from getting prominent. The stain comes off easily with oil/oil-based makeup remover.

Shade: It’s a “Let your lips do all the talking” kind of shade- a dark wine with strong reddish undertones. It has very tiny golden shimmers which can be detected only on close inspection. You can see me wearing it HERE. Don’t miss the hashtag πŸ˜›

While the shade should be very flattering on medium-dark skin tones, I find that it works well on my fair skin tone also without washing out my complexion. With this one, I think it’s only a matter of preference. It’s just that I have always liked myself more in everyday lipstick shades. I’m all for bright shades (particularly in lipsticks) but I have never seen myself reaching the end of their bullets. What about you?

Tips for a neat application: Scrub, lip balm + lip brush.

How I wear it: Since I like to wear it more as a stain, I do this: Tap it on my bottom lip, press my lips together and spread the shade evenly using my finger.

Summary:

Coloressence mesmerizing lip color ‘Moods in Maroon’ may not be your everyday cup of tea (like me) but it’s surely a breath of fresh air in a drawer full of pinks, *udes and reds. Plus, it makes a perfect option for a killer selfie! For the quality it offers, it’s well-worth its price tag! Needless to say, it’s the ideal wallet-friendly vampy lipstick in India.

Usually, I do not wear such vampy colours. But this winter it has been different. I hated browns and maroons all my life and now I am suddenly head over heels.
I have heard so much of good reviews of Coloressence products. Somehow, I have never been able to snag any for myself. I think it’s time I did.

    Your lips look gorgeous!

I think one is bound to get bored at one point of time after sticking to the same shades in makeup. Glad you’re liking the change. I’ve always worn brown but never did I thought I will walk out of home wearing such a shade and not feel uneasy..hehe

I’ve only tried 3-4 lipsticks and a lipgloss from this brand. So far, I’ve no complaints.

I’m sure this will look equally good on dusky beauties too coz of how nicely pigmented it is.
