Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte lip tint ‘Victorian Rose’ Review and Swatches

in Lips, Lipstick, Reviews on 14/09/15

A newly launched makeup product by apna Lakme at a price tag of Rs.650! And, that too a lip tint in matte finish! Couple it with the gorgeous matte packaging housed in a glossy cover! Top it with the fact that the mechanism is rotating and not sharpening!

Wow!
It sure sounds like a fantasy come true! Thankoo Lakme!

My experience with Lakme Matte lip tint ‘Victorian Rose’:

Not just the packaging, but even the name exudes luxury! The difference being that this time it’s an affordable luxury from Lakme. Now who thought that a lip product from Lakme priced at Rs.650 would be called affordable?

Ok! I have talked enough about the price. It seems like I have gone bonkers. Wait a minute! Maybe, I am.. Okay!

The lip tint comes in color coordinating tube with a silver cap. As I said, thankfully the mechanism is rotating and not sharpening. I swatched all the shades on my hand and this shade particularly had the best texture out of all. Others felt a lot stiff and dry. On the contrary, this one glides on lips smoothly with a gentle pressure (be careful lest you break the bullet) and delivers a full pigmentation in two swipes. But I still need to have properly moisturized lips to get a smooth finish out of it. Otherwise it can easily highlight dry flaky bits.

With a full meal and drinks in between, it does wear off from the center of lips completely but a lot of color is still left. Nonetheless, I have to touch up otherwise it looks odd. I have wore it two times till now and it lasted for 5-6 hours with a considerable fading from the center of lips.

The red shade with hints of pink and coral is not an ‘in-your-face” shade and is a deep bright shade. If you have parched lips, it’s best that you stay away from it for using it as an alone color. However since it has some staining properties, you can wear it blotted under your favourite red shade to increase the lasting power of your lipstick.
Price: Rs.650

Quantity: 3.2gm
VCB Ratng: 3.75/5

UPDATE: I was just reading some reviews of these matte lip tints and read quite a few times that the bullet breaks. Given their dry texture, some pressure is bound to happen! So that’s quite heart-breaking!

Have you tried it? Or are you tempted to try these matte lip tints?

The shade looks amazing on you. Waiting to Lakmé to add some nude shades to their collection.

I loved this shade so much that I bought Tangerine touch and Starlet red in the same range and to my disappointment, Tangerine touch has a different formula. It’s SUPER drying and applies patchy that too after a good 4-5 swipes. The colour is so pwetty but the patchiness and dryness is just too much! :/

Hate it when the formula is not consistent in a specific range.
Better to skip it altogether. Try melting it and storing the product in a container. The texture might be better.
