2 Disappointing Sephora Products

in Face, Hair care, Makeup, Others, Primer on 20/08/14

Hey everyone!

After I raved about Sephora 12 hr wear eye pencils (Review HERE, HERE and HERE),it’s time to talk about some disappointments.

Sephora Express Dry Shampoo Review
This dry shampoo is actually good. I used it on the second day of my hair wash when I had to rush out somewhere and my scalp and hair were looking so oily. I sprayed it from a distance and the first thing I noticed about it was that it has such a pleasant floral smell. I mainly sprayed it on the front and side area of my head which were greasy. It actually removed the oiliness and I could also notice that it did provide a teeny bit volume. The effect lasted for some 7-8 hours! I was quite pleased with it considering how fast my scalp gets oily. That said; please remember that dry shampoo is not an alternative to your shampooing because it does causes build-up. So, make sure to shampoo your hair in max 2 days of using it. My scalp is too oily and with my exercises, I can’t afford to wash my hair every day. This is why I use it.
Now, you must be wondering if it is effective, then why have I labelled it as disappointing. It’s because I paid Rs.520 for a one time use. Yes! After using it once, the spray just refuses to work. Now, I’ll just have to buy the L’oreal dry dust shampoo.

Sephora smoothing primer review
What Sephora says about it:
A perfect complexion always starts with smoothing primer.
This primer is the first essential step to flawless, long-wearing make-up. It perfects the complexion, makes foundation easier to apply and sets make-up. Its transparent gel texture smoothes the skin’s texture and leaves it feeling exceptionally soft. Its matte finish prolongs make-up wear.
It features a neutral shade that is completely translucent and suitable for all skin tones, from very light to very dark.

My experience with it:
As a smoothing primer, it’s good. It spreads easily, makes the skin very smooth and blurs out my open pores a little. As a Mattifying primer, it’s bad. Contrary to mattifying skin, it hydrates it. My oily skin was feeling oilier in no time. So, I suppose the dry skin people might like it as a primer very much. Also, this primer flaked twice upon my skin. Just make sure to test it before you buy this. It retails for Rs.850, so Colorbar perfect match primer (review HERE) can give it a good competition. It is for Rs.825 now.
And, when you shop from Sephora, always ask for samples because they seldom give on their own!;)

gosshh that dry shampoo packaging ditched you.. wish u could get more than just once out of it.. definitely not a good idea if they have that kind of issue with packaging.. even I am planning a dry shampoo.. I guess loreal would be a better option.. 😉

The primer sounds great for dry skin but why flaking.. its weird.. great that u can try satchets before buying.. 😉
