Sephora Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear “22, Indulge Yourself” Review and Swatches

in Eyeliner, Eyes, Makeup on 14/04/14

Hey everyone!
Today, I’m reviewing a dazzling flashy green shade with tiny silver glitters.

What it is:
A contouring eye pencil for a big, beautiful look that lasts up to 12 hours.

What it does:
Enhance and enliven your eyes with the bold, long-wearing color of these eye pencils. The silky formula is resistant to water, heat, and humidity, ensuring up to 12 hours of smudge-less wear.

What it is formulated without:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

My experience with Sephora eye contour eye pencil:
I’m fast falling for our Sephora. I know the high end brands are really expensive here in but this makeup land is too good for my senses. On my recent trip I discovered the whole Sephora and although most of the brands were out of my budget but I liked a lot of products from the brand “Sephora” itself and I picked up a few. I’m going to go back there as soon as I save more! Coming to this eye pencil, the shade was love at first sight! When I want to buy new eye pencils, I mostly first swatch the shades on my hand and then, try to rub them off after some 7-10 minutes to check on their staying power. But this beauty set itself on my hand within 2 minutes and even after vigorous rubbing there, it hardly moved from my hand. I knew I had to buy it since I was searching for such a vibrant cool toned green shade for a long time.
The packaging is simple with the shade printed at the end, which makes it easy to identify. It’s in a sharpenable form, so wastage is bound to happen. But since I’m more inclined towards using sharpenable pencils, it’s ok by me. With retractable pencils, you sacrifice sharpness and with these sharpenable pencils, you incur wastage but also acquire sharpness. Gosh! I sound like an accounts teacher! The opacity of the pencil is pretty good. It gets almost full intensity in two swipes. And, the staying power is remarkable. It stays on my very oily eyelids intact until removed! I have worn it for more than 10 hours and the shade did not faded a bit. It is also waterproof. I ran my swatch arm under tap and even after rubbing the wet swatch, it did not move. Only the glitter moved a bit.
The only glitch I find is that the texture is way too soft!  They glide like butter on my eyelids. And, I do like soft texture but with a bit of hardness. Here, the texture seems a little waxy which is also responsible for its quality of gliding onto eyelids without any tugging. Other than that, I just wish that the glitter was a little less.  Nevertheless, I’m enjoying wearing this shade a lot these days! I’m not much into greens, but this one is a lovely shade. Brown eyed girls would love its effect.

In short,
–        It’s a beautiful striking green shade with tiny silver glitters.
–        The shade is printed at the end of the pencil, which makes it easily identifiable.
–        Since it’s a sharpenable pencil, some wastage is bound to occur.
–        The texture is extremely smooth which means no tugging on the eyelids but it also means a little struggle in drawing an even line (at least for me)
–        It gets near to full opacity in two swipes.
–        The staying power is remarkable! It stays on my oily eyelids until removed and the intensity remains intact.
–        It’s also waterproof.
I find these very similar to Colorbar I-Glide eye pencils since I find the texture and staying power of both same. In fact, Sephora eye pencils are better in staying power area and have a more good variety of shades.

It's a beautiful green! I like faces canada eye pencils. They are very pigmented and highly smudgeproof.

It does look buttery and the colour is gorgeous but the glitter had to ruin it. I do have one in a lighter shade and I always wear it on my lower lid. Not a green fan either but slowly I'm beginning to like these colours.
