As summer wraps up, it’s time to give your wardrobe as well as vanity a makeover. Updating your lip color is one of the easiest ways to do so. If you find shades like oxblood and super saturated purples too much for your liking, ‘Lakme 9 To 5 Rose Touch Weightless Matte Mousse Lip And Cheek Color ‘ might be perfect for you.
The newly launched product is available in 10 shades. I was so excited to try them that I ordered 2 shades on a random basis online. I’ll be reviewing the shade ‘Rose touch’ today.
What the Company claims: Say ‘No’ to touch ups with this perfect for office wear, Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color. Lakme’s first lip and cheek color comes in a mousse texture that’s weightless, giving a powdery matte finish to lips and a soft blush to your cheeks. Its Looks and feels weightless because of the light weight formula. Since it’s a mouse texture, it absorbs well giving an intense color that long-lasting. The applicator brush glides on seamlessly making is east to apply and giving a smooth and even finish. There are 10 vibrant shades designed especially for both lips and cheeks.
How to use product: Swipe on the product – with the foam tip applicator evenly over your lips. Apply a second coat of the weightless mousse, to deepen the shade and give your lips a powdery, matte look. My experience with ‘Lakme 9 to 5 Rose Touch weightless matte mousse lip and cheek color’:
As you can see, it comes in a sleek tube packaging with a rose gold cap. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the tube. Had the tube been the same shade as the actual color, the packaging would have definitely been better. The other details like price, weight and expiry date are mentioned on the outer package.
It goes on extremely smooth and has a beautiful consistency which helps in precise application of the product. Since it’s extremely pigmented, I don’t need to layer it. It dries down to a matte finish but doesn’t leave your lips craving for moisture. It’s so light-weight that I can’t even feel there’s anything on my lips. You can easily smile even after some 4-5 hours have gone by. If you verge more on the side of hydrating lipsticks, you may feel a little uneasy after a few hours. In that case, do this: Apply a transparent balm, blot and re-apply.
No doubt, this Lakme product reminds me so much of NYX soft matte lip cream. In fact, this one lasts longer than NYX matte lip cream, around 7-8 hours. Of course, the staying power varies with the type of food you have. The oilier your food is, the higher are the chances of it wearing down.
The tube has a doe foot applicator and as soon you bring it close to your lips for applying, you may feel like eating a dessert. That’s because it smells like caramel.
Does Lakme 9 to 5 Rose touch lip and cheek color work as a blush?
At least, not for me.
The texture is soft but not to the extent of being used as a blush. Using it as a blush over my base is a futile exercise as it needs to rubbed a lot for a streak-free blush application. Doing that moves my foundation. Also, I’m pretty sure that I don’t want my skin to turn red and flaky. It’s just a lot of work for a result that isn’t diffused.
Find out how to apply blush according to your face shape if you aren’t sure on how to use it the right way on your face.
Lakme 9 to 5 Rose Touch Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color is a fantastic pick as a matte lip color that isn’t overly-drying. Add to it, the amazing staying power and texture! However, it doesn’t work as a blush and I find it overly-priced for the 9 to 5 range.
If you have parched lips, you will need to touch-up a few times using the balm.

On another note, just to give you a small update on where I was: The other areas in my life needed more focus from me. That said, I was also lacking inspiration. Maybe because makeup has become a part of my everyday routine and a routine can get monotonous. I never stopped buying beauty products and playing with them but when it came to blogging, I wasn’t exactly in that phase. Now, I’m back and can’t wait to share beauty stuff with you all. I did like to thank those who sent me mails asking me about my whereabouts and messaged on Instagram. Hoping to connect with you all again ^_^
