An Ideal Brush Set To Master Different Eyeliner Looks

in Eye brushes, Eyeliner, Eyes on 27/01/17

I bought this Real Techniques Eyelining set on a whim from Amazon more than a year back when the price dropped from Rs.2000 to Rs.700 (rough figure). Even though I mostly use liquid eyeliners, I always go for layering gel eyeliner beneath them on days I want a serious staying power. I use this eyeliner hack for my super oily eyelids.

The set comes in a plastic casing which houses all the brushes inside along with a silver pouch. How thoughtful! As you can see, they have a shiny purple handle with the ends being black in rubber material (maybe, for good hold). The name for each brush is written on the handle itself. They are still in a very good condition. The bristles of all the brushes are soft and don’t hurt the skin. These pictures were taken only a month back. Moving ahead with the individual brushes and how to use them:

Precision liner brush

For me, this is the best brush of the lot! It’s a very thin one with dense bristles and allows for total control. You can make both thin and thick line with this one. Since I have small eyelids, I find this very useful.

It’s thicker as compared to the precision liner brush. It has a small yet flat tapered head. It can also be used as a lipstick brush.

The accuracy one gets from this brush can also be achieved with the brushes that come along with Maybelline and L’oreal gel eyeliners.

Eyeliner brush

This small angled brush is my least used brush for eyeliner application. The reason being that the bristles aren’t very stiff and therefore, getting a precise line is difficult with it. You can see in the pics below that I drew a winged eyeliner using this. But it’s hard fitting it in the outer corner of my eyes. Instead, I use it to apply eyeshadow along my lower lash line and it works extremely well. You can also use it to fill in your brows.

I also own e.l.f. small angled brush and find it to have stiffer bristles.

Smudge brush

This is my second most used brush of the lot. This smudge brush from Real techniques blurs the edges of the line perfectly to help you create smokey eyes in a minute. I use it to smudge eyeliner on both bottom and top lash line. I used it in my tutorial on how to do smokey eyes for beginners.

Real Techniques Eyelining set Review

Summary:

From achieving a super thin line to doing smokey eyes within 2 minutes, this Real Techniques Eyelining set will always have your back. My only complaint is that the eyeliner brush should have been thin with bristles packed firmly together. That said, I still derive a lot of use out of it. This is not a must have brush set but if you want to experiment with different looks, it will not let you down. Super happy for taking advantage of the sale \:D/
