After having an amazing experience with Sivanna Colors ultra blush palettes, I was looking forward for the same with the other products from this brand. I bought Sivanna Colors Smokey Eyes 03, tested it and have to say that I’m not that impressed.

Sivanna Colors Smokey Eyes 03 review

affordable makeup palette in India

My experience with Sivanna Colors Smokey Eyes 03:

Packaging: Sivanna Colors Smokey Eyes 03 comes in a black packaging with a transparent lid on top. The lid closes properly every time. The ingredients list as well as the shade number is mentioned at the back of the palette. There’s a sponge tip applicator included inside.

Texture: In spite of good pigmentation, they don’t pack well on the lids because of the dry texture. They also require more than the usual efforts to get blended completely.  Shades 1, 2 and 6 are softer than the other ones and apply well without being uneven.

Pigmentation: I went over the swatches 3-4 times to build up the coverage. It’s not that the color payoff is bad but rather the dry texture makes it difficult to apply them.

Staying power: They easily get broken up by the natural oils on my eyelids. I have super oily eyelids and even with primers underneath, my skin eats eyeshadows within a few hours only. The case is same with these. If you have non-oily eyelids, they might last longer on you.

Did I experience any reaction? No. They didn’t irritate my eyes.

Shades:

1- Medium warm brown in a matte finish

2- Light beige in a matte finish

3- Taupe brown in a matte finish

4- This one looked so pretty in the pain with the shimmery particles on top of it. But once you’re past the top layer, it’s a regular brown with minute shimmers. All that glitters is definitely not gold!

5- Grey-tinted light brown with a matte finish. It works well for filling in my brows too because of the light coverage it offers.

6- Bronze brown

How to make this affordable eyeshadow palette work?

The only way to make this Sivanna eyeshadow palette work is by using a damp brush to pick the pigments. Just run the sponge tip applicator/eyeshadow brush under water, squeeze out the excess water and then, dip it in the palette to pick the powder. You will definitely notice a considerable difference.

Setting them with a fixing powder after doing eye makeup also helps in increasing the staying power, especially on oily eyelids.

Summary:

If you’re after an eyeshadow palette in India under Rs.500, Sivanna Colors Smokey Eyes 03 is not a bad option.

Shades 1, 2 and 6 are much better than the other ones in this palette.

I remember having tried Incolor eyeshadow 3 years back. It performed just the same like these ones. The difference being it was for Rs.200 and this palette is for Rs. 250. Not bad at all, right?

Skip it all together if you have a medium-dark skin tone. You will require a lot of efforts showing them on your skin tone.

Price: Rs.250

VCB rating: 3.75/5
