Murad MattEffect Blotting Perfector Review

Murad matteffect blotting perfector review

If you had to choose between primers, setting sprays and blotting products, what would you choose?

I would most definitely choose a blotting product. I can still fill in the absence of primers and setting sprays but when it comes to soaking the excess shine, I need my blotting sheets! No wonder, I have five backups of blotting sheets lying in my cupboard. Now if only I knew such a product existed, I would have spent my money instead on getting its backups.

I LOVE IT!

Product description:

Does your makeup look good in the morning but by mid-day, your skin’s oil breaks through and makes your pores look bigger? Instantly mattify, refresh and set with this translucent, liquid blotting formula in an on-the-go cushion compact for 8am skin all day. Soft Focus Mattifying Spheres absorb oil, minimize pores and perfect skin. Set makeup, touch up throughout the day, or use on bare skin for a natural, matte look. Cooling, antimicrobial applicator won’t disturb makeup. Works on all skin tones.

How to use it:

Lightly press the applicator puff into the cushion. Pat the puff onto skin, concentrating on oily areas. For touch-ups, reapply as desired.

Do not over-saturate the applicator puff with product. The best application is achieved with a light amount of product on the applicator puff. Product is buildable if more mattification is desired.

Flip the cushion to extend usage.

Applicator puff can be washed with mild soap and warm water

My experience with Murad matteffect blotting perfector:

Murad matteffect blotting perfector comes in the form of a cushion compact with the brand name written on top of it. There’s an inner cover to prevent the liquid from drying out and it also houses a puff. The puff applicator is soft and helps push the liquid into the skin. Please note that you have to pat the puff on your skin and not swipe it otherwise your foundation will move.

I bought this blotting perfector when the weather was cool in Delhi. Having used it in the scorching heat and humidity, it’s the ideal time to write about its performance. When I first used it in the cool weather, I was afraid that it might blot to the extent of flaring up my dry patches. But nothing of that sort happened. There was a mild cooling sensation when I used it and I was surprised to see that it had mattified my skin completely. I had used it after eight hours and my face looked fresh!

Having used it in this hot weather, I have the same to say about it. I use Murad matteffect blotting perfector mid-day. It leaves my face devoid of oiliness and I don’t need another touch-up for the next 3 hours. Depending on what day you’re having, the activities you’re going through, you may need to use it more. But once I have blotted my face using it mid-day, I only use blotting sheets next as I don’t find it that oily. I’m pretty sure that’s also because it’s very expensive!

This was such a saviour when I had to attend a friend’s wedding recently. I had to be on my feet constantly and run from here to there. I used it twice and didn’t have to worry much.

Depending on what makeup you’re wearing underneath, there may be a bit of transfer. Also, it suits my oily acne prone skin.

Obviously, it doesn’t fulfils completely what it claims but I still can’t help but like it big time. If you don’t want to spend so much, you can also try Oriflame oil blotting sheets. They too do the job well.

I’m definitely getting two back-ups for myself.
