Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray review

Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray review India

Fixing sprays are supposed to be one of the best products for oily skin. I reviewed Kryolan dermacolor fixing spray yesterday and today I’m reviewing another hyped product.

Product description:

The original authority on makeup finishing sprays, Skindinavia is the definitive go-to when you want your makeup to have that on-going ‘just-applied’ look! Clinically-proven to keep colors vibrant and make creasing concealer and faded foundation a thing of the past, consider this your barrier against makeup meltdown. Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray applies as a lightweight, breathable mist to set liquid and powder makeup and holds your makeup in place for up to 16 hours.

My experience with Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray:

You know how there are some makeup products that perform well but you still can’t bring yourself to like them a lot. The only reason being that they have been blown out of proportion. For me, Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray is one of them. Because it’s so insanely hyped, I had very high expectations from it.

I got hold of it some 3-4 months back and have used it a lot of times to prolong the wear time of my makeup. Thankfully, the nozzle works well and my face isn’t covered with some large droplets of liquid after spraying unlike the Kryolan dermacolor finishing spray one.

The brand suggests to use the spray in an X and T motion so that the mist covers your entire face. But that much amount hardly does anything for my oily skin that also sweats easily. While I don’t drench myself in it, I give it a good shake and spray it a good 7-8 times to actually see a difference in how my makeup wears throughout the day.

It gives a satin-matte finish and feels light-weight. However, it does take 3-4 minutes to set.

I started using it in the beginning of Feb month and it was cold at that time in Delhi (at least, for me). My skin was partially oily. When I applied it, I found myself reaching for blotting sheets very less. Because of the satin-matte finish, my face had a subtle glow which I loved. Also, it didn’t emphasize any dry patches. My blush for longer and so, did my base makeup. I did have to touch-up again around my nose area but that’s it. The only gripe I had was that it did little to maintain the coverage of my foundation.

Now, when I have tested it in the scorching heat, I like it even lesser. The reason being it does nothing to extend the placement of makeup getting spoiled from sweat.  If you have an oily skin type and are in an air conditioned environment, it will still work for you. But if you have to be under the heat constantly, don’t count on it. I do kill the shine it imparts using a powder.

The only way it works brilliantly for me is if I spray a little onto a sponge and pat into skin before my foundation ritual. I don’t have a problem doing that but I always get small bumps the next day I do it.

In a nutshell, Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray is not bad but it’s not worth the hype. I see it working for dry-combination skin type. But on my oily skin, it’s a different story.

I’m keen on trying the variant for oily skin type now. I went with the bridal one first because bridal makeup is supposed to last even under hot and humid conditions.

Have you tried Skindinavia bridal makeup finishing spray? Do you like setting sprays or think they’re just a marketing gimmick? I’m yet to try 3-4 more before I can make up my mind on them in general.
