MAC Painterly Pro Longwear Pot- Worth The Hype?

Continuing the “makeup products worth the hype” series with MAC Painterly pro longwear paint pot today.

Product description:

Pro Longwear Paint Pot is a highly pigmented, long-wearing eyeshadow that goes on creamy and dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Its innovative second skin-like formula blends smoothly over lids and creates seamless, buildable coverage without looking heavy or cakey. Its superior color purity stays true and will not streak, crease or flake. Water-resistant, it can be mixed with other products like shadows and eyeliners.

How to use: Smooth over your eye area with your finger or a brush.

My experience with MAC Painterly pro longwear  paint pot:

I have said this before and I’ll say again: My eyelids bear a close resemblance to a pool of vaseline. That’s how much oily they are! Even in winters, they are super oily. As a result of which, I have trouble keeping eyeshadows in place. Applying them with a damp brush, layering them with a base beneath in the same color and using a fixing spray on them does prolong their wear time but it’s not enough.

On days I wear them, I can’t imagine going out without keep the shade in my handbag. I always have to make way for a touch-up after some hours. I tried MAC paint pot a few times in the store but was never quite satisfied with how it wore. I thought I was confused and that it’ll be best to buy it and test it out. Argh! Bad, bad decision!

While the texture blends easily, it does nothing to help me extend the staying power of eyeshadows. It creases alone too. Such a disappointment! It does help in increasing the vibrancy of an eyeshadow but I didn’t buy it with that intention. I have other products for that.

These days, I’m trying Etude House 10 eye primer which is supposed to be another miracle eyeshadow primer for oily eyelids. I really hope it’s an amazing makeup product for oily skin on my eyelids.
