C.A.L. Los Angeles Lipsticks Review and Swatches

C.A.L. Los Angeles is a new makeup line, launched just a month back. I came by its kiosk in Lifestyle mall (Rohini, Delhi). I wasn’t really drawn to it when I first entered the mall because buying makeup that day was not on my agenda. But at the end of the day when my hands were not even almost half-full, I walked to this kiosk and discovered it a bit. I fell for one shade and then one thing led to another. So, here I’m sharing my thoughts on three new CAL Los Angeles lipsticks in my vanity!
Please see: If you face difficulty when going for beauty shopping and feel that you end up with the wrong products, you may want to check out my post on how to shop at makeup counters.
C.A.L. Moving Lyrics lipstick ‘Sun shine,33’ and ‘Ravishing,59’:
Product description:
Intensely moisturizing. Exquisitely smoothing. It’s like a colour infused fountain of youth for your lips.
  • Instantly drenches lips in moisture and locks it in for endless comfort.
  • Infused with advance skin care ingredients, the formula smooths the appearance of fine lines and helps lips look fuller.
My experience with them:
The lipstick comes in a black packaging and feels sturdy enough. The bullet runs over the lips smoothly, packing an opaque punch of colour in one swipe only. There’s no drag feeling. They provide a decent hydration to lips as long as they stay on. The frosty brown shade (Sun shine,33) survives light snacks and drinks, with a lot of colour still left on the lips. But the maximum it wears is for 3 hours. The pink shade (Ravishing, 59) survives a full meal and leaves a stain on the lips afterwards, which lasts for another hour or so. I actually fell for this subtle bright shade. Wear it blotted and it will look like you just ate a cotton candy! 😀 I louuuu this shade!
But moving lyrics? I need an explanation! o_O

C.A.L. Perfect Pout Lipstick ’06, Whipped berries’:
Product description:
The long wearing stay-true formula glides on easily with a light weight creamy texture for rich colour impact that lasts, plus it won’t feather or bleed.
  • Provides instant moisture.
  • Suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Clinically tested for skin allergy and irritancy.
  • Fragrance free.
  • Vitamin E and Vitamin C derivative help defend against wrinkle causing free radicals.
My experience with it:
CAL lisptick ‘Whipped berries’ comes packed in a cylindrical shape tube. The whole brand name is written on the tube here unlike the previous ones. I wish they paid attention to that. Coming to the texture, it is soft but with a bit of stiffness. I have to apply a tiny pressure to cover my lips fully. Given the good pigmentation, my job gets easy. It will cover even pigmented lips effortlessly. It stays on for 4+ hours with drinks and a full meal in between. The intensity wears down but the lips aren’t left colourless. Also, it does not collect at the corner of the lips.
For the moisturization part, it’s okay on that but I’ll not pick it up if I’m suffering from chapped lips.
If you are looking for a lip color that stays even longer, you might want to check out Lakme 9 to 5 rose touch weightless mousse lip and cheek color. Even with full meals in between, it packs a serious staying power.
Price:Rs.550, You can buy HERE.
VCB Rating: 4.25/5

*Ravishing 59 (middle) is looking a bit flaky since I was swatching lipsticks one after another. Plus, it’s a tone brighter in real*

The quality of CAL cosmetics Los Angeles lipsticks is undoubtedly good. However for a new brand, I find the prices a bit on the high side. That said, I’ll buy one more if I find a good everyday peach shade in their ‘perfect pout lipstick’ range. I just wish there was a ‘wow’ factor to them..you know.. like they call to you!
