My experience with Maybelline Colossal Kajal “Turquoise”:
Honestly, I had no obvious intentions of buying it. But when I went to the makeup counter for other stuff, I just thought that I should try it. I said to the Maybelline SA “Please swatch it” and “don’t swatch it” quite a few number of times. But then I took a deep breath and made up my mind and there she went drawing a gorgeous turquoise shaded line on my arm and I knew I had to get it.
Maybelline Colossal Kajal “Turquoise” comes in a bright yellow packaging with the letters engraved in a shiny blue shade. The packaging is a twist up, retractable packaging. The kohl can be twisted outside and then, again inside unlike in some versions where the kohl can’t go back down after being twisted. The shade is a “medium greenish blue” shade with very fine shimmer. It gives the illusion of my small eyes looking big very nicely.
When I started to apply it on my eyes, it came off as near to sheer coverage on the first swipe. Only after swiping it after 3 times, I got an opaque coverage from it. The textureis smooth and not extremely smooth. But because the pigmentation of the kohl doesn’t comes off as impressive, I have to go over my eyelids for 2-3 times which I don’t like to often since it’s a delicate area.
Coming to the staying power, it’s pretty impressive. I have very oily eyelids and most kohls/liners tend to transfer to my upper lids. I also have watery corners, so most smudge from the outer area. But this kohl neither got transferred to my upper eye lids nor smudged at the outer corners of my eyes. I wore it for more than 10 hours, slept with it on my eyes but it did not budge! The intensity had faded only a bit. The only glitch is that it smudged a little in the inner corners of my eyes. So, I like to line my eyes before my inner corners when wearing this. I didn’t use it on my lower lash line because the texture lacks that smoothness to go over that delicate area for me. A little turn off is that it stains the eyelids very, very mildly for some time.
In short, Maybelline colossal kohl “Turquoise” is a beautiful medium bluish green shade that’s an instant opener for small eyes. The texture is smooth and the pigmentation is buildable. But what’s impressive is that it stays on for more than 10 hours on my very oily eye lids without fading or smudging. Go for it if you are looking for a nice affordable coloured eye liner.
