Lakme Nude Scape 9 to 5 naturale matte stick: Review, Swatches

I wish when brands call a particular shade of their lipstick a ‘nude’, they mention for what skin tone. It would be such a relief! I ordered this lipstick online from Amazon thinking the same but the shade was a disappointment for me.

Product description:

Healthy and nourished lips is now a stunning reality with the all new range of Lakme 9to5 Naturale Matte Sticks.

Nothing enhances a makeup look quite like a picture perfect and healthy pout. Lakme’s all new matte sticks’ collection heals and softens lips with the goodness of aloe vera and honey. It has semi matte texture with a hint of shimmer, delivers a long lasting finish and is available in 15 intense shades that complement Indian skin tones.

My experience with Lakme Nude Scape 9 to 5 naturale matte stick:

Lakme Nude Scape 9 to 5 naturale matte stick comes in a very sleek packaging with a pull-off cap. The rose gold and green gradient packaging is sooo pweetyyy *_*

Before I bought it, this had an ‘A+’ packaging score in my mind. But now when I have used it, the case isn’t the same. The rotating mechanism is hard. I have used it 4-5 times up to now and didn’t face any issue. But I think I could pose a problem in the future with regular usage.

Also, a reader of mine mentioned that her lipstick was broken from the base.

The matte stick is easy to apply as it glides on the lips without any tugging. If you have naturally dry lips, it’s best to use a balm underneath as the texture can get drying after some two hours. Lakme claims this to be a nourishing lip color but even on my non-dry lips, I noticed dryness after wearing it for three days straight. One swipe is all I needed to get a rich coverage on my lips. However, if you have dark lips, you will need 2-3 swipes. It’s still isn’t full coverage though. When I tried to pack 2 layers, I didn’t face any issue.

Lakme Nude Scape 9 to 5 naturale matte stick isn’t a nude or even a MLBB shade on my NC30 skin tone. If you are above NC40, this might make as a good nude shade for you. Also, I like how the metallic tone in the lip color is understated and not over the top. I do wonder though what made Lakme call them as matte in the first place.

As for the staying power, it is very long-lasting with very little colour transfer. With light drinks and snacks in between, my lips look almost as good when I first applied it. It’s only after a full meal that I do notice it fading.

Summary:

I bought Lakme Nude Scape 9 to 5 naturale matte stick only for the packaging. And I’m glad I didn’t have any expectations from it. The lip colour isn’t bad of course but it’s blah just like the other lip products launches. What I find most disappointing is when brands claim so many things and aren’t able to fulfill that tall order. The matte stick is supposed to be comfortable to wear despite the semi-matte formula but it isn’t. It doesn’t heal or soften lips.
