Colourpop Lux Lipsticks: Review, Swatches

Colourpop lux lipsticks review, swatches India

I’m sure I’m not going to be the only one who would stop using these lipsticks once I get closer to the star embossing on the bullet. The shade” Lay over” might be an exception though.

After using Colourpop lux lipsticks for over 15 days, I’m finally ready to review them. Let’s get started! Hope you have your credit card by your side or your dad’s 😛

Product description:

This full coverage lipstick is packed full of the finest pigments to give you long wearing, true color in shades made for every skin tone. This formula glides on like butter and has a creamy matte finish. Our exclusive LUX blend of Acai, Jojoba and Pomegranate Seed butters hydrate and keep your lips looking fresh AF. Natural antioxidants protect your lips from environmental stressors and premature aging.

My experience with Colourpop lux lipsticks

Let’s start with the packaging first, shall we? Because if it wasn’t for the rose-gold body and stars drawn on the bullet, these probably wouldn’t have hogged so much of limelight. Just saying!

Packaging:

Colourpop lux lipsticks are one of those products that look really expensive but aren’t. Each lipstick is encased in a white case with the product name mentioned in metallic letter. Classy, right? The actual lipstick has a rose gold body with tiny stars on it and has some weight that adds to its expensive look. The bullet has stars embossed on it. Some one hand me a tissue please! It took me a lot of courage to actually start using them as the first thing I had in my mind was to simply keep them in my “Only to be looked at, not used” drawer.

Also, they have a magnetic closure.

The packaging definitely gets an A+ from me.

Texture and finish:

The Colourpop lux lipsticks feature a beautiful nourishing formula, allowing for a smooth application. The creaminess is never to the point  where it clings to dry patches on lips. It’s only after 1.5-2 hours that the satin finish starts to settle down and it leans more towards matte. When I started testing these lipsticks, my lips were dry because I had cold. It’s only after 4 hours that I found myself reaching for a lip balm and even by that time, these colors didn’t end up looking a hot mess. Not even the bright ones.

Color intensity:

I need only one swipe with all shades to saturate my lips with colors completely. But even after going with two coats, I didn’t feel any heaviness.

I tested all the shades on a friend of mine who has dark lips. Except for the ‘Lay over’  and ‘Still crazy’ shades, all gave a full coverage with two swipes.

Staying power:

Except for  ‘Lay over’  and ‘Still crazy’, all shades last somewhere between 5-6 hours before fading to a strong stain. The texture may not be super hydrating but it’s also not drying in the least bit. I also didn’t face feathering issue with any of Colourpop lux lipsticks.

These colors aren’t devoid of setting into lip lines after some hours but the looks is quite minimal.

Summary:

I have fallen in love with Colourpop lux lipsticks! From the packaging to the formula to the number of shades available in a single product line, everything is top-notch!

I’m praying that these don’t resemble the look of melted butter when proper summers arrive, just like with most Colourpop lippie stix.

Priced at $7 each (just Rs.454), these are the closest you can come to trying high-end lipsticks- both looks and formula wise. Obviously, without breaking your bank!
