Most disappointing beauty products of 2017

These are the products that made me wonder how wonderful life would have been had I spent my money on McDonalds’s meals instead. Sigh!

Let the sob fest begin!

Dior lip and cheek glow

It shows no colour on my NC30 skintone, no matter how much I layer it on.

Price: Rs.2,450

Lakme absolute luxe matte lip color

It goes on uneven and looks patchy. Again, couldn’t feel this lipstick contains any kind of oil.

Price: Rs.800 (Tadap tadap ke is dil se..)

Etude House eye primer

It doesn’t work.

Price: Around Rs.600

PAC liquid eyeliner pen

Not in picture here because I forgot to include it. -1

Since the color is “watered down”, I tried rolling it over again to build the pigmentation. Instead, it breaks down.

Price: Rs.400

NYX vivid bright eyeliner ‘Violet’

Not in picture here because I forgot to include it. -2

When the eyeliner dries, it leaves a stiff feeling on my eyelids. Also, it starts breaking after some hours.

Price: Rs.700

Natio pure mineral skin perfecting BB cream

I tried to make it work, I really tried. But I would take it off immediately after applying it. It refuses to blend and settles into pores badly. There’s Ponds beauty BB cream for Rs.79 and then, there’s this!

Price: Rs.950

Lakme absolute Argan oil serum foundation

I couldn’t find a trace of Argan oil in this foundation from Lakme available for a size of just 15ml! But since the shade is a good match for my skintone and it has good oil control property, I’m hoping to get good use out of it in summer.

Price: Rs.750

Marks and Spencer autograph fluid touch foundation

This isn’t a hydrating foundation. The only reason why I haven’t put up a review of it yet is because I want to see if it’s useful in the humid weather.

Price: Rs.1,699

NEW L’oreal true match foundation

You know you love a foundation when you’re able to finish it even with 20 other foundations lying in your drawers. That’s what happened with me when I welcomed the original formula of this foundation.

But L’oreal ruined it for me when I went to purchase my 2nd bottle. It has reformulated the old version and the new one feels a lot more emollient. Also, there are visible shimmers on my face and even the same shade is a tone darker.

Yes, my soul slipped out of my body.

Price: Rs.1,200 something

PAC bouncy primer

This is supposed to be hydrating and an energy drink for the skin by replenishing moisture levels. Also, it’s supposed to give a dewy and healthy finish. Also, it doesn’t do any of that.

I found myself reaching for Glucon-D powder drink after trying to make it work.

Price: Rs.550

MAC painterly pro longwear pot

Nothing special. I’m glad they have a “Back to M.A.C.” return policy. So, I can make some use out of it.

Price: Rs.2,000

Iba Halal liquid foundation

Not in picture here because I can’t find it. -1

It makes the oily parts of my skin oilier and dry parts drier. It gives a polka dot face and the formula starts breaking down within an hour only. Also, it doesn’t suit my skin.

Price: Rs.310

Colourpop lippie stix ‘Parker’

It got fungus. You can see more about it HERE.

Colourpop lippie pencils

You know those annoying pens that make it hard to write because somehow the refill keeps going back inside?

It’s exactly the same with these.

And also, after 6-7 uses, they kept on breaking.

Colourpop creme gel liner

I could get use only out of the shade ‘Over Board’ but only to an extent as I did lose 2cm of its body in the end. BREAKAGE!

Same issue as with the other two shades.

The shade ‘Get Paid’ was working fine for the initial few uses when it too decided to shock me by breaking in a half.

YBP makeup perfector

Not in picture here because I can’t find it. -2

I was expecting a beauty blender knockoff, instead got a rip-off.

Price: Rs.1,200

PAC beauty blender sponge

Not in picture here because I can’t find it. -3

It’s one of those “you get what you pay for” products. It’s not awful but I did rather use my fingers.

Price: Rs.485

PAC matte lipstick

Melted butter in heat.

Price: Rs.350 each

Ooh! That rhymes!

Now, it’s your turn to tell me about your disappointing beauty products  and help me save my money. Start!
