Time: Some 30 mins before I had coffee with Hide&Seek biscuits.

Eww! What’s this stickiness? Oh Gawd! Is this just another liquid lipstick? Damn! I hate them! Money gone down the drain.

I should have spent my money on food instead.

Hmmm..So, it’s gonna stay all frigging day like this. That’s only if it does actually stays without making my lips sprinkled with sand. Let’s see.

My experience with Maybelline matte ink liquid lipstick lover:

Maybelline matte ink liquid lipstick comes in a square tube which is colour-coded with the respective shade and has a twist-off cap. The shade name and number is mentioned at the bottom of the tube.

The texture is thick but surprisingly smooth. It spreads well and since it doesn’t dries super fast, you get time to perfect the application. When it dries off completely (which feels like an eternity), the finish is not complete matte but rather saturated ink-like with a slight sheen. I prefer this kind of finish to the Sahara-dessert like lips. So, I’m not complaining. This maybe the reason why it doesn’t feel drying as long as it on the lips.

As for the staying power, it actually lasts! Lasts not just from 9 to 5, but from 7 to 5! Even after having oily food, it doesn’t turn crumbly or patchy!! The formula starts to break only if you consistently feed it extremely greasy food or it has been on your lips for more than 8 hours. But even after those 8 hours, it doesn’t look bad.

Maybelline matte ink liquid lipstick lover is a dark mauve (a bit pinky) on my skintone.

Removing it is also easy. My Maybelline makeup remover worked just as well as my MAC cleansing oil to take it off- quickly and properly. There was no exercise scrubbing session involved.

Here’s a list of all the things you should be willing to put up with if you want a super long-stay lip colour without the mess of a traditional liquid lipstick:

– Maybelline matte ink liquid lipstick takes a full 20 minutes to dry off completely. And during that period, you are not supposed to press your lips together. It is a struggle because of the overly sticky texture. No phone calls too.

– One coat of this liquid lipstick is enough.

– Even after 20 minutes, the stickiness of the product won’t wear off. It will decrease by 70% though. Silver lining. Well, be prepared to endure it for the next 4-5 hours.

– Drink/eat only after 30 minutes of wearing it.

– I wore it straight for 3 days and applied ghee and lip balm frequently on the 4th day to soothe them. I think this is more of a ‘special occasion’ lipstick.

Summary:

You gain some, you lose some.

If you hate liquid lipsticks and are unable to find a traditional bullet lipstick with a serious staying power without staining your lips, you should definitely check out Maybelline matte ink liquid lipstick.

It wears for long and even after having oily food, it doesn’t betray you by turning all flakey accompanied with a disgusting ‘inner lip crusty line’. It doesn’t feel drying as long as it’s on your lips and removing it is also easy at the end of the day.

However, it does remain sticky throughout its wear time and the struggle of avoiding your lips from meeting each other for 20 minutes is real.
