Estee Lauder Blackened Onyx Double Wear Waterproof Eyeliner Review

I visited Estee Lauder store some weeks back to get the double wear liquid foundation. I did manage to find the right shade for my skin tone after spending an hour but it was not in stock! Since I was taking breaks in between testing different shades lest my skin goes flaky, I tried this eyeliner. Even with a makeup remover, it was a pain to remove. I had to try it! So, reviewing Estee Lauder Blackened Onyx double wear waterproof eyeliner today.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Infinite Waterproof Eyeliner details:

Draw the line. Crave-worthy color that lasts all day and night—up to 24 hours. From precision definition to a sultry smolder, the possibilities are endless. Includes a soft smudge tip and built-in sharpener. For a smudged effect, blend before it sets. Waterproof. Smudge-, sweat-, heat- and humidity-resistant. You can see other shades in this range on Estee lauder website.

My experience with Estee Lauder Blackened Onyx double wear waterproof eyeliner:

Packaging: The pencil eyeliner comes packed in a blue cardboard box which carries necessary details like ingredients list, expiry, price, etc. The actual product has a smudger on one side and pencil on the other. Each of them is color coded to the actual shade which is helpful if you own a lot of eyeliners. You don’t need to open them individually to see which shade they are. The retractable mechanism means no product wastage.

Pencil type eyeliners are especially helpful for beginners learning how to apply eyeliner. Personally, I found the liquid ones to be the easiest even when I was a makeup amateur. It all boils down to your preferences.

Texture: Estee Lauder double wear eyeliner doesn’t have the smoothest texture. It is moderately dry and therefore, tugs my eyelids a bit. It sets completely after 30 seconds or so. I took a shower with this on and it did not smudge. I exercised with it on and it did not run. The next time someone asks me as to what is the best eyeliner for oily skin, this one is definitely coming up in my recommendations list.

That said, the “smudger tip” is a put-off. It’s hard and pulls my skin a lot. I will prefer my smudger brush over it any day. You can check out

Shade: Estee Lauder Blackened Onyx double wear waterproof eyeliner is a muted black with multi-colored shimmers. It goes on evenly and looks beautiful. In the eyeliner swatch below, it doesn’t look very different from Sephora glitter black crayon jumbo 16 hr but it is.

Pigmentation: The formula starts with a medium intensity but goes fully opaque in 2-3 swipes.

Staying power: The big deal with this waterproof eyeliner is that it stays, stays and stays on! After 14 hours, I could still see it sitting around my water eye corners area. Even if you end up accidently rubbing your eyelids slightly, this one doesn’t move. One time I wore it layered over a black eyeliner and the combination did not budge even after long hours of dancing.

But a let-down here is that it looks a bit faded after the 6 hour mark. After 8 hours, it’s slightly more.

Summary:

I’ve a love-hate relationship with Estee Lauder Blackened Onyx double wear waterproof eyeliner. I love it for the amazing staying power, beautiful shade, no-sharpening mechanism and easy to apply texture. But at the same time, I don’t like it how the color intensity starts fading after 6 hours. Also, the texture is not the best and the price tag it comes at, I want nothing but the best.

If the texture becomes hard after some months, I’ll update this post.
