Maybelline New York Lip Flush Bitten Lip RD01: Review, Swatches

When the Korean gradient lip trend bit me, I tried several color combinations to get that “just bitten” effect. My favourite duo being a lipstick and a concealer. I loved the look but I never wore it outside home. The reason being the whole process is not exactly touchup-friendly. So, when Maybelline New York lip flush bitten lip got launched in India, I thought I can finally wear one outside too! Did the lip flush bitten lip meet its claims? Let’s find out!

Ultra creamy formula provides 12 hours moisture

My experience with Maybelline New York Lip flush bitten lip RD01

Packaging: Thank you Maybelline for finally giving a slightly new look to your newly launched lipsticks. The usual scenario with Maybelline lipsticks is that after you peel the plastic cover they come in, the packaging looks similar to the old ones. But not with this one! It’s gradient and also, has the brand name mentioned on it. Yay! The shade number is mentioned at the bottom.

And just look at the bullet which has a trio color combination *_*

Texture: It feels very balmy and moisturizing. Due to the softness, it feels super comfortable on lips without any heavy feeling. However, the “12 hours moisture” claim is definitely exaggerated. If you suffer from chapped lips, this isn’t going to help much. It also emphasizes the dry patches.

Finish: The finish of Maybelline lip flush is creamy and also, a bit glossy.

Pigmentation: The first few swipes aren’t impressive and I found myself layering it 4-5 times to get the desired intensity.

Scent: Love Love Love! It has a yummy fruity scent which has led me into the temptation of using it as a lip balm since the time I bought it. If that worries you, you should know that the scent goes away after some minutes.

Longevity: It stays for 5 hours which is amazing given its creamy texture. Although the juiciness fades off after an hour or so, there’s still a lot of color left on lips. Even after having a full meal (oily items included), it left a stain behind.

Did I achieve the gradient look with it?

Nope! Why? Because the cool-toned ‘nude beige’ shade plays a spoilsport on my warm complexion. It looks unflattering.

Do I still like it?

Lub! When I wear all the colors mixed together, the result is a beautiful pink perfect for everyday wear.

Summary

Maybelline New York Lip Flush Bitten Lip RD01 has got a smooth and balmy consistency. Despite its creamy texture, it stays on surprisingly well. But the shade is a bummer on skintone with warm complexions for creating gradient lips. Also, the color payoff is disappointing. In spite of that, I still like it. I’m wearing it even as I write this review..ehihi! For me, it’s a pigmented upgrade to a tinted lip balm with a better staying power and of course, an everyday lipstick. And the delicious fruity smell! Ah!

If you want to buy it with the intention of creating gradient lips, I suggest you to first try the shades at the store and then, only buy.
