Beauty Products Hits And Misses

The first thing I do after receiving my salary is open my wish list which is an excel sheet and decide which items to purchase. This often involves a long conversation battle in my head, followed by a ‘disprin medicine’ because I have been staring at my screen continuously for over an hour. It’s only when I’m in the state of bankruptcy after the first week ends that I wonder about my regret beauty purchases done in the previous month and the food I could have gorged on with that money.

That’s what today’s post is about! Talking about some beauty products which were good and some being bad.

And yes! It’s the second thing I do! The first thing I do after receiving my salary is a silent dance in my head *celebration music*

I’ll start with the ‘misses’ first i.e. the product which did not work for me.

Essence long lasting eye pencil

The formula is extremely dry which results in a poor color payoff. Even after dragging, I could see little color on my hands. There’s no question of even using it on my eyes. It costs Rs.249.

PAC liquid liner pen

I like the packaging and the felt-tip applicator but the formula doesn’t cut for me. The application is especially painful over eyeshadows. Since the color is “watered down”, I tried rolling it over again to build the pigmentation. Instead, it breaks down. It costs Rs.450.

NYX vivid bright eyeliner in shade ‘Violet’

It’s a pity that this eyeliner has a disappointing texture as well as staying power because the shade is beautiful. When the eyeliner dries, it leaves a stiff feeling on my eyelids. Also, it starts breaking after some hours. It costs Rs.700. You can see the shade HERE.

Colorbar I-glide eye pencil ‘Electra’

Such a disappointment after trying ‘Blackout’ and even re-purchasing it. It’s very pigmented but the formula drags and also, gets transferred.

LA Girl HD Pro Conceal in shade ‘Toast’

This shade is more like a liquid bronzer on my skin which I use under my foundation to define my cheekbones in a subtle way. After applying foundation, I go over with Benefit Hoola.

Before this, I was using Kryolan supra color in shade ‘D16’. I use the applicator directly on my cheekbones and put a thin line below them. I use a damp sponge to blend it and it works fine. The concealer sets to a semi-matte finish, stays put for 5-6 hours and offer a little more than medium coverage which is amazing. It costs Rs.595 and comes in a wide variety of shades.

Faces Ultimate pro xpert cover compact

I have this in shade ‘Beige’ which is an ideal match for my skin tone. I mostly go for a shade lighter (in same undertone) in foundations but I couldn’t find that didn’t look artificial in this range.

The packaging is super travel-friendly with the sponge applicator as well as mirror inside the compact itself. The texture is quite creamy but sets to a powdery matte finish after some time. Since I have seborrheic dermatitis on face, I like my base products to cover redness quite well. This one does the job. It works well on oily-combination skin and lasts for 5 hours after which it starts fading, mainly from forehead and around the nose. But I will not recommend this to people with dry skin as it starts emphasizing dry patches faintly after some hours have gone by. It costs Rs. 795.

HealthAndYoga relaxing gel eye mask

Louuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu it!! *_*

Because of spending a lot of time in front of laptop, my eyes are burning by the end of the day. I use eye drops too but this eye mask is heavenly! Previously, I was using one by Basicare but this one is much better. I keep it in refrigerator 30 minutes before using it. I use it before going to sleep and it does an amazing job at offering relaxation. You can use it more than once in a day. It covers the whole eye area because of its big size. It costs Rs.145 and is available on Amazon HERE.

Toni & Guy sea salt spray

Previously, I used one from John Frieda. It left my hair feeling a bit crunchy which I didn’t like. This one doesn’t weigh my hair down, smells good and helps enhance the natural waves of my hair. I apply it on damp hair, starting from midlengths to the ends. Sometimes, I also like to follow up with making curls. I don’t even have to follow up with a hairspray as it has got a good hold. It costs Rs. 1095.

Soulflower cold pressed jojoba oil

I talked about it HERE also. I use one pump of it along with my moisturizer on damp skin every night and keep patting until it absorbs. It moisturizes skin so well and makes my makeup go on smoother. But it does take a lot of time to sink in. It’s only when summers come and my skin resumes to being oily, will I be able to finally make up my mind about it. It costs Rs.395.

Miss claire anti redness professional makeup primer

While it doesn’t do anything to reduce redness, it’s a very nice product for all skin types. It makes my makeup wear better and doesn’t emphasize the dry patches. To blur my pores effectively, I like to go with a double layer using it. Glad it doesn’t flake! I bought it almost 7-8 months back and never found it causing any reaction on my skin. When I purchased it, it was for Rs. 400. Now the price has increased to Rs.549. You can buy it on Amazon. That said, my most used primer is the one by Skindinavia. Any Wayne Goss fans here?

Maybelline total clean express eye and lip makeup remover

My most loved cleansing oil i.e. Innisfree apple juicy cleansing oil is close to getting finished. I know I’m not going to visit their store anytime soon (far from my place) and therefore, I have been avoiding its usage on my eyes and lips to save it. So, I bought this Maybelline eye and lip makeup remover and it has been working fine. It’s going to last long as I need more quantity only when I have to remove waterproof products. It costs Rs. 275.

L’oreal Paris Color Riche L’huile nail varnish ‘440 Cherry Macaron’

Who’s hungry? 😛

Well, I suck at applying nail polishes. That’s the only reason why I don’t mind spending more on them because the difference in consistency makes my job easier. I also like the brush size as I don’t have to go over multiple times. The shade screams summer!

So, these were my hits and misses. What are some of your hits and misses? Got any rant for an awful product or love for an amazing one? Start typing 😀
