What do you prefer: A fluffy blush brush or a dense blush brush?

When I was new to the world of beauty, I wasn’t a fan of blushes. The reason being I was more focused on controlling acne and didn’t want to add color on my already colored (acne marks) cheeks without wearing a foundation. After some months, I got comfortable with wearing a foundation/BB cream on a daily basis. But I noticed how flat it used to make my face which actually made make-up look obvious. This is when I decided to incorporate blushes in my daily routine makeup.

I may start with a tint or a cream/stick blush formula, but I like to end the result with a powder based blush to finish the layering. For the first few years, I stuck with fluffy blush brushes as I wanted the effect to be natural. I wasn’t concerned about creating chiselled cheekbones and just wanted to fake a natural rosy flush. The latest one I used was the Real techniques blush brush. It definitely kept me from depositing a blob of color on my face, no matter how pigmented the blush used to be. I still use it when I’m using a very bright blusher.

But now I do like to create the illusion of chiselled cheekbones using two blushes.  Since a fluffy blush brush can’t create a strong impact, I switched to using a one with a small head. The previous one I was using was by BH cosmetics but it just didn’t feel the like the right match for my small face. Then, I landed upon this PAC cosmetics powder brush 330 and it changed things for me!

I bought this brush from Amazon HERE. If you see the description there, it’s touted as a smudger brush. For this kind of brush, I found the size to be quite big. Since I wasn’t sure, I decided to check their website which was under-maintenance. I came across their YouTube channel where they have shown every brush and how to use it. Super useful! On their channel, the brush is called a unique tapered powder brush. It’s not a smudger brush! I wish the description was same across every medium. You can see the video HERE. I watched the video and came to the conclusion that this is an affordable and close version of the Bobbi Brown blush brush I have been eyeing for long.

I bought it some 3 months back but lost the first one. No idea how! I ordered one again and showed it on Instagram a week back. That also reminded me that I have to review it.

I find the size as well as the dome shape of PAC powder brush 330 to be just perfect to deposit color at the place where I’m aiming to. It doesn’t pick a lot of pigment in one go which is another bonus. It gives me the control I want without compromising on blending the edges neatly.

As compared to the Real techniques blush brush, the bristles aren’t that soft. But at Rs. 485, I’m not complaining. The brush did shed a bit initially but not anymore. Also, the shape hasn’t changed. I’ll update the post in case this changes.

Now, you tell me: which one do you prefer for blush application? Are you fond of blushes? Are they a part of your everyday makeup routine or do you like to reserve them for special occasions?
