Our favourite budget-friendly brand is the latest to join the matte lips bandwagon. I was ecstatic to find Elle 18 color pops matte lipsticks online and grabbed 4 shades. They cost Rs 100 each but I had to pay Rs 70 shipping charge for each. Sad, I know!
The brand spends so much on marketing. But the fact that their products aren’t easily available makes me think if it’s worth it. I’m pretty sure most of us have to search high and low for them.
Anyhoo, I’ll review 3 shades today.

As you can see, the lipsticks come in a sleek packaging. The casing is made of plastic. The cap shuts tightly after each use.
The lipsticks have a smooth texture and glide on easily with a little push. Also, there’s enough time to fix a problem made in lipstick application since they don’t set to a matte finish. The formula is more on the creamy matte side and you can see a little sheen. After an hour or so, the sheen is gone.
The shades aren’t definitely opaque but they do cover pigmented lips to a good extent. I love all the shades I own, especially “deep pink”. I feel like wearing it all the time. Let’s tango Elle 18 is a very wearable warm orange.
Regarding staying power, they don’t last much without the blotting lipstick method. If you wear them the blotted way, they survive even a full meal with some colour worn off from the middle of the lips. Also, since they stain, the wear-off is not that prominent. Isn’t that awesome for the price they come at?

P.S.: I swatched (is it even a word?) roughly 6 lipsticks this day, hence the dryness. Also, since dark shades like ‘Cherry wine’ make lips look thin, you can always draw the line outside your natural lip line. This helps in creating the illusion of fuller lips.
Summary:
I find Elle 18 color pops matte lipstick well worth their price. The packaging is okay (cute too), they spread over lips with a little force and last for long with the blotting method. The sad part is that one has to pay Rs 70 extra as shipping charge for every lipstick.
