YSL Glossy Stain – # 12 Corail Fauve Review and Swatches

Okie! So who says buying more and more makeup is unhealthy?

To buy this YSL glossy stain, I had to give up on going to Mcds two times a week, my favourite bounty chocolate 5 times a month, my favourite white pasta 2 times a month and my favourite candies and marshmallows too! So, I did lose some weight! See, it’s healthy! Buying expensive makeup is really healthy! Although for a student like me, any product above Rs.500 tag is expensive! Now, coming to this gorgeous stain..

My experience with YSL glossy stain:

I loved using the newly launched L’oreal caresse lip stain so much that I ended finishing it some time back. For me, that formula is a hit! I had always wanted to buy YSL because of their lovely packaging and so this time, I did!

YSL Rouge Pure Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain comes in a square tube packaging with a golden cap with YSL imprinted on it. There’s a transparent gap in between to check as to how much product is left within. And, it has a petal shaped applicator that helps in even distribution of product on lips. I would say here that I liked the packaging of L’oreal lip stain more. It’s all gold and shiny.

I found the texture better than the L’oreal lip stain. The texture is just so light. It feels like I have nothing on my lips. It’s again of combination of glossy formula of a lipgloss and watery formula of a lip stain. The actual lipstains can be unforgiving on dry lips but with the hydrating formula of this stain, even dry lips girls can carry it with ease. The shade is a bright orangey red that goes on warm pink at first but within seconds, it changes the colour. I wouldn’t say the pigmentation is opaque but it’s very much buildable. I find the shade really nice and I think even girls with deep tone skin will like it.  The staying power is again amazing! Even with drinking and full meals in between, it was very much there on my lips with a slight fading. This isn’t really an everyday bright shade for me unlike L’oreal Caresse lip stain Bella (Review HERE) but I love it for days when I want a bright lipstick.

In short,

YSL glossy stain comes in a lovely packaging with a rectangular transparent gap at both sides, which makes it easy to check as to how much product is left within.

The petal shaped applicator picks enough quantity at once and distributes the glossy stain evenly.

            The texture is very light.

The formula is a hybrid of a gloss and stain.

The pigmentation is not opaque but very much buildable.

The staying power is amazing! It stays on for more than 4-5 hours even with full meals in between.
