Benefit – The Porefessional Primer Review and Swatches

What the website says: Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

This is a much hyped product in the makeup community and I brought it thinking that it will really do its job of filling in the pores. So, did it?
Benefit Porefessional comes in a pretty tube with the image of a professional looking girl. The tube has got a tiny hole that dispenses the required amount of product needed easily. Mine is a travel sized version but even the regular packaging is same in tube aspect.
Since this is a primer consisting of silicone majorly, the texture of the product is very smooth and spreads easily on the skin.
I need a really small amount for applying this on my cheeks overall, which is why it will last really long. I love Benefit sample size products. They last really long!
Now, coming to its claim of minimizing the appearance of pores, it does that! I actually saw this stuff blurring my pores to a major extent. I’m not saying they were invisible, but they were reduced to a large extent. I use a shimmery highlighter on top and actually the finish of the highlighter went on smooth, without it settling onto the pores. You saw Penelope Cruz’s makeup in Oscars this year? The pores were so easily seen. Nonetheless, she looked gorgeous!
This even works for big pores. I used this on my friend who has big pores and it worked beautifully on her.
Even though it works so nice, I wouldn’t be using this stuff in daily use. I haven’t even tried using this on a regular basis to check whether it will break me out because I know it will break me out due to clogging of my pores.
Benefit also claims that this can be used over makeup but I don’t since using liquid formulation over powder disrupts the makeup. You can use it if you don’t use powder over makeup.
I have used in all seasons of my skin (oily, combination and dry) and it worked well. Though I make sure to use a Mattifying primer beneath when I have oily skin.
Since this majorly contains silicones, make sure that you are not allergic to it.
