I just announced the winners of my giveaway and while I was about to click the button to generate random number entries, a lot of thoughts crossed my mind.
Why? Because the number of views for my giveaway post was so high but the participation was less.
To start with, giveaways are held for a number of reasons like for increasing traffic, publicity, fan base and also, to thank readers..
Now, giveaways are genuine and fake too. Putting up a screenshot of “random entries” can’t guarantee that the winners chosen are genuine. The page can always be refreshed.
Talking about my opinion, I hardly participate in giveaways but this is because I am too lazy to do the entries, and not due to the trust factor. I won a sponsored giveaway a month back but there’s still no trace of the prizes being received. Although, the good news is that I know I would never want to work with that very famous yet unprofessional company in future 🙂
