Dove Elixir Hibiscus and Argan Oil, Nourished Shine Review

This particular review is going to be long as I really want to cover details here, so you can surely get popcorn and drinks for yourself or if you don’t want to read this detailed review, you can jump to “Pros and Cons section”.
I find it so nice to know that every now and then there are new makeup/beauty products launching in India and when they come at decent prices that don’t make a hole in the student’s wallets, I’m even more glad. Aren’t you? 😀
I spotted Dove Elixir hair oil some days back when I had gone to a local market and I was ecstatic!

I was more overjoyed when I saw its packaging. The beautiful design on the bottle and the petals inside the transparent bottle make a treat for eyes. It felt like I was holding a luxurious thing in my hand. The bottle is made of glass and therefore, bulky too. One thing which I wish should not have been missed is that there should have been a full cap covering the pump instead of the cap leaving the nozzle of the pump. Sigh!
And, I love the line on the bottle> Love Your Hair!
Anyways, there are three variants in this: One for hairfall, second for dry hair and third one for luminous hair.  I got the third one as I definitely needed something other than monthly spas to see shine in my hair.
The smell of this oil is what I dislike. If you have ever smelled someone’s hair who has put on L’oreal hair colouring, it smells exactly like that. Very strong smell! Though the smell gets a lot light when you are done with oiling, after some minutes. This is weird though good!
The texture of this oil is very light weight. Now, if I apply it in large quantities covering all shafts of my hair and scalp, it’s bound to get some greasy because after all, oil is oil! But because of its light weight texture:
I am able to use it as a serum after my hair wash and it controls frizz nicely. I need only one pump.
I can easily use it in hot summers because of its non-greasy texture.
Now, Dove Elixir hair oils contain a large portion of mineral oil. Mineral oil in hair care is used only to retain hair moisture, getting it detangled and for adding shine. So, if you are expecting miracles to happen from this oil, you may skip it.
Coming to the particular claim of this oil “Nourished shine”, yes! It definitely smoothes my dry, frizzy hair but talking of shine, its fine. Nothing great.
I am really disappointed here since I really wanted to see luminous shine in my hair as claimed by them.
How I use it:
Dove Elixir Hair Oil + Shampoo + Conditioner
Or
Shampoo + Conditioner + Hair serum
Even when I use it as a hair serum, it doesn’t weighs down my hair and controls frizz very nicely.
Oily haired beauties who dread of using oils because of their greasy hair can surely give this a shot because of its light texture.
PROS:
        Beautiful packaging.
Makes dry hair really very soft.
It cuts out the frizz to a very good extent.
        Very light weight hair oil.
Can be used as a hair serum too because of its light texture.
        Decent price.
Imparts a subtle shine to hair.
        Doesn’t makes hair limp.
        It gets rinsed out easily.
CONS:
Bulky glass packaging and no cap provided to cover the nozzle.
Doesn’t impart a luminous shine to hair as claimed.

Dove Elixir Hibiscus and Argan Oil surely moisturizes dry hair very well and even cuts off the frizz to a great extent but talking of their shine department, it’s nothing great.
Also,I like using hair oils from which my hair growth can benefit. Since it’s not that kind of oil, I am going to reserve it as a hair serum to be used after the hair wash process.

General Rating: 4/5
